Together, We Advance: Canberra Dynamics Partners with UNSW
23 April 2025

Canberra Dynamics is pleased to formally announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the University of New South Wales (UNSW). This strategic agreement marks the beginning of a significant collaboration between our defence technology company and one of Australia's leading institutions in engineering, innovation, and defence research.
This partnership aligns Canberra Dynamics with the UNSW Canberra Launch community across all of UNSW Canberra’s locations, including its new City campus—an ambitious and growing ecosystem designed to connect innovators, researchers, and industry to address complex challenges facing Australia’s national security and resilience.
Through this MoU, Canberra Dynamics and UNSW commit to working together on several key fronts:
1. Applied Research and Capability Development
We will leverage UNSW’s world-class research capabilities in engineering, autonomy, and the electromagnetic spectrum to develop and prototype solutions to frontline challenges. Our focus remains on delivering outcomes that are operationally relevant, testable in the field, and aligned with Australia’s sovereign capability priorities. For defence primes, integrators, and tech innovators: this partnership is a bridge to emerging talent, operationally focused R&D, and real-world testing at the edge.
2. Industry-Integrated Student Engagement
We will provide UNSW students—including undergraduate officer cadets from the Australian Defence Force Academy (ADFA) and postgraduate engineering cohorts—with opportunities to engage in practical, real-world problem-solving. This includes paid internships, industry capstone projects, and collaborative research placements. Students won’t just be watching—they’ll be building, testing, and learning alongside engineers solving real-world electromagnetic, autonomy, and national resilience problems.
3. Thought Leadership and Professional Development
Our team will contribute to UNSW’s educational mission by offering guest lectures and workshops. These sessions are designed to equip the next generation of Royal Australian Navy, Australian Army, and Royal Australian Air Force officers with contemporary, mission-aligned perspectives drawn from operational experience and industry practice.
4. Strategic Vision and National Impact
This agreement establishes a foundation for future expansion of the relationship as UNSW Canberra’s City campus continues to grow. Together, we aim to foster a collaborative environment where research translates into real capability, students transition into national service and innovation careers, and new ideas accelerate from lab to field.
5. Secure and Inclusive Campus Design
We will support efforts to shape a connected and secure environment for staff, students, and the broader Launch community—ensuring operational robustness alongside accessibility. We are also committed to championing equity, diversity and inclusion across our engagement with UNSW.
We thank the UNSW Canberra team—particularly Akeel Feroz, Hayley Maddox, and Professor Andrew Neely—for their leadership and shared vision in establishing this partnership.
This marks the beginning of a long-term strategic relationship that will grow alongside UNSW Canberra’s City campus and the UNSW Canberra Launch ecosystem. Together, we’re building national capability from the ground up by investing time and training into Australia's next generation of technical leaders.
